THE BIGGER PICTURE
When they were awarded a spot-kick in the 89th minute, long-serving keeper Fernando Muslera was invited to step up. He just about squeezed his penalty into the back of the net – allowing the 38-year-old to register the second goal of his 14-year Gala career.

WHAT JOSE MOURINHO SAID
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss told reporters after seeing his side end their 2024-25 campaign in second place: "The way you celebrate championships shows your human condition. Today’s championship celebrations were like a summary of the stories during the season. When it was 2-0, they made the goalkeeper kick a penalty, which was a great image to show how humane they are."
