A lip reader has revealed the pep talk Cristiano Ronaldo gave himself before firing home a free-kick in Al Nassr's recent 8-0 rout of Abha.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Famous for his incredible self-belief, Ronaldo told himself he was both "the best" and that "it was going to be a goal" as he lined up take a free-kick for Al Nassr against Abha earlier in April, according to lip-reader Gustavo Machado. He subsequently smashed home a brilliant strike as his side ran out 8-0 winners.

According to Machado, Ronaldo said to himself: "You are the best. You know you're the best and you're going to score. It's going to be a goal, it's going to be a goal. You know it's going to be a goal."

WHAT NEXT FOR AL NASSR AND RONALDO?
In the absence of their star man, Sadio Mane inspired Al-Nassr to a 3-1 win over Al Feiha on Friday. However, they are very unlikely to win the Saudi Pro league this season with leaders Al-Hilal nine points clear of them with six games to go. An AFC Champions League spot does look set to be secured though, as does the golden boot for Ronaldo. Beyond that, the Portuguese captain will look to lead his country to a second European Championship title in what is his record-breaking sixth Euros.
